Tattoo Aftercare Instructions

Proper aftercare is essential for vibrant, long-lasting results and healthy healing. Christina, owner and artist, is dedicated to helping you protect your new body art every step of the way. Below you’ll find clear, easy-to-follow aftercare instructions, plus helpful videos to guide you through the healing process.

How to Care for Your New Tattoo

Every tattoo is unique, and healing times can vary. Fine line tattoos often heal faster, while larger pieces may take more time. No matter the style, following the right aftercare routine is the key to a beautiful healed tattoo.

    • First Steps: Remove the bandage after 4 hours. Wash the tattoo gently with a mild fragrance free soap and warm water twice a day for the first 2 days.

Ensure your hands are clean, and you are using a new piece of paper towel. Gently pat dry and let air dry for 10 minutes.

After 10 minutes apply a very thin layer of moisturizer and continue moisturizing a maximum of 2 times per day.

    • Moisturize: Apply a thin layer of fragrance-free moisturizer, such as Aquaphor, Lubriderm, A&D ointment, or a tattoo-specific cream. Less is more—over-moisturizing can slow healing.

    • Continue Care: Keep tattoo as dry as you can during the first week of healing. Do not let the scab get soaked in the shower - this can lead to poor healing of your tattoo. Moisturize twice daily. Continue for 3–4 weeks, or until the skin is fully healed (typically 4–6 weeks).

    • Product Tips: Choose gentle, unscented products with ingredients like shea butter, jojoba oil, aloe vera, or vitamin B5.

    • What is Second Skin? Second skin bandages are breathable, waterproof coverings that protect your tattoo while allowing oxygen in—perfect for busy lifestyles.

    • First Application: Leave the bandage on for 3-5 days. It’s normal to see some fluid buildup under the bandage.

    • Removing the Bandage: Remove under lukewarm water by pulling a corner down and along the skin (not straight out). Gently wash the area with fragrance-free soap, then pat dry with a fresh paper towel.

    • Continue Care: Keep tattoo as dry as you can during the first week of healing. Do not let the scab get soaked in the shower - this can lead to poor healing of your tattoo. Moisturize minimally twice daily. Continue for 3–4 weeks, or until the skin is fully healed (typically 4–6 weeks).

General Aftercare Tips

Sun Protection:

Keep your tattoo out of direct sunlight during healing for a minimum of 2 weeks. Once healed, always use sunscreen to preserve your ink’s vibrancy and minimize the need for touch-ups.

Do Not Pick or Scratch:

Avoid picking at scabs or peeling skin—this can cause patchiness or require additional touch-ups.

Stay Clean:

Only touch your tattoo with clean hands. Avoid soaking the area in water (baths, pools, hot tubs) until fully healed.

Listen to Your Body:

Some redness, swelling, or irritation is normal in the first few days. If you notice signs of infection or have concerns, reach out to Christina for advice.
